If you're up to date with K'Nova or Baby Joe, or scrolling Pasifika TikTok, you've probably heard that line: “Baby fakamolemole, pick up the telefoni.”
That's from Tongan Jams, the first Tongan song K'Nova has ever written, featuring up-and-coming artist Baby Joe — he's East Palo Alto born, Tonga raised, and now based in Arizona, so you know both artists have Bay Area energy written all over them.
K'Nova tells PMN+ he named it Tongan Jams because of nostalgia: remember buying blank CDs from RadioShack? Most islanders would write “Tongan Jams” or “The Mixtape.” That's the vibe he wanted to capture — fun, nostalgic, and totally islander. He also gives a shoutout to Baby Joe, sharing, “He's a Tongan artist himself, coming out with the culture, the lingo, and the traditional language.”
Haven't heard it yet? Go check it out and add it to your playlist — it's one of those tracks where even if you don't understand every word, the vibe hits all the way.
