Holding the Mic & Owning the Show, With BigBodyCisco

The Bay Area-raised, Las Vegas-based MC on building BigBody Radio, working a crowd with DJ Westafa, and never settling for less.

When the name BigBodyCisco enters the conversation, it's not just about a host, it's about a force. More than an MC, Cisco is the spark that sets the entire room on fire. He's not just holding a mic; he's holding space, shaping moments, and shifting the atmosphere wherever he goes. Whether it's a packed music festival or a tight-knit Pacific community gathering, Cisco doesn't just introduce the headliner, he becomes the moment before the moment. With every word, he breaks the ice, builds the vibe, and turns unfamiliar crowds into one big family reunion. And if you've ever experienced him live with DJ Westafa, you already know the magic. If not, this is your chance to meet the man who's changing what it means to represent culture, community, and connection on the mic.

BigBodyCisco is, quite simply, a force. We had the opportunity to sit with BigBodyCisco and learn more about his story. It's an honor to share his journey with you, showcasing the talent and heart behind his presence on the mic.

The Journey

From the Bay Area and now based in Las Vegas, Cisco's journey is one of faith, fire, and fearlessness. "It's a blessing and a journey, to say the least," he says, reflecting on the path that brought him here. He knew early on that something was missing in the airwaves specifically, Pacific Islander voices. He remembers listening to jocks from LA and the Bay, tuning into the frequencies of the world, but never hearing us. Our people. So he changed that.

For the Love of Music

"I've always been a fan of radio," he shares. But rather than take a job in mainstream radio where he'd have to conform to a playlist that wasn't his own, he went the independent route. "I'm a rebel," he says with a laugh, describing his leap into internet radio during a time when digital spaces were just beginning to democratize the industry. That decision led to the birth of BigBody Radio, a platform where Pacific Island artists and mainstream music could coexist, collaborate, and thrive.

His love for music has always been paired with a love for representation. BigBody Radio wasn't just about playing songs; it was about shifting culture. It gave a seat at the table to voices that had been overlooked for too long. And it turned into something bigger: podcasts, interviews, Twitch streams, and more. The movement kept growing, fueled by Cisco's unmatched energy and relentless vision.

Long before the lights and stages, there was Long Beach. Silverado Park. Cisco lived with his family in a neighborhood impacted by gang culture. His parents, determined to carve out a better path, moved the family to the Bay Area. "That's where I grew up and threw up at," he says, meaning that's where he became who he is. His love for music, community, and culture was born in California… but he wasn't done growing.

Fast forward to 2020, during the quiet chaos of the pandemic, Cisco moved to Las Vegas. The Strip was shut down. The city of lights was dark. But he saw a blank slate. "The Strip was my life… and it stopped," he says. "That was my time to reevaluate." Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world, became his next chapter. A chance to go all in. To bet on himself. And as we all now see, it was the best move he could've made.

There's something poetic about rebuilding in a city known for reinvention. For Cisco, Las Vegas wasn't just a new location, it was more of a declaration. He wasn't done. Not even close. "I didn't want to be complacent. I knew I had more to give."

The Purpose

At the heart of it all is family. Cisco speaks of his parents with deep reverence. "My pops raised me with an iron fist," he says. That same structure and discipline is what shapes him as a father, as a professional, and as a man. He lights up when talking about his kids, five of them and now, grandkids too. "I want my kids to know their dad did something here on this earth."

He shares stories of his brother, who moved to Samoa and never came back, raised in the Fa'a Samoa way. Cisco, on the other hand, was raised "the Cali way." It's a story many Pacific Islanders can relate to, the tension and beauty between two worlds. "We were raised with English as our first language because our parents knew it would help our careers," he explains. While he doesn't speak Samoan fluently, he holds no shame. "Just because I don't speak it doesn't mean I don't represent it. I represent it to the fullest."

Cisco was also an athlete, "football was everything," he says. He played at San Francisco City College, then the nation's top junior college program. But life had other plans. He became a father while still in school. "There was a fork in the road, do I play football or take care of my son?" It was his parents and coaches who urged him to choose fatherhood. And he did. "I raised my kids my whole life and I'm proud of it."

The Rebuild

If you follow Cisco on social media, you know one thing for sure: he's the #1 49ers fan. Loud and proud. He doesn't hold back when it comes to his team, or anything else. When asked about the state of the Niners, he beams with faith in GM John Lynch, head coach Kyle Shanahan, and quarterback Brock Purdy. "People think it's a rebuild, but just watch," he says. His excitement is infectious. He gives shoutouts to icons like Jesse Sapolu, expressing gratitude for their relationship and recognizing all that Jesse has done and continues to do for Polynesian football. He also highlights rising stars like Talanoa Hufanga, with whom he shares a meaningful connection and had the honor of featuring on his podcast, The Western Conference. He knows how much it means to see Pacific athletes succeed, not just on the field, but in life. And he makes sure to amplify their voices and celebrate their wins.

When Cisco is on stage, his mission is simple: make sure everyone feels seen. "If I see one face not enjoying themselves, I work to change that," he says. Whether it's pulling Westafa aside to switch a track or scanning the crowd to find the energy dips, Cisco is constantly thinking, adjusting, and elevating the vibe.

But BigBodyCisco isn't just an entertainer or a fan, he's a brand. He's a voice. He's someone who believes in authenticity, and that shines through in every post, every podcast, and every performance. "I do it for myself first," he says of his motivational morning messages you see him sharing on social media. "But if it reaches someone else, then that's God."

"Music is a universal language. I may not be able to talk to the crowd, but I can speak to them through music."

The Mission

He and Westafa don't just hype the crowd, they engineer the entire atmosphere. "If you didn't have a good time while we were on stage, we didn't do our job," he says. Cisco prepares, researches, and reads the room like a seasoned vet. He knows what songs will hit for what audience, what moments will lift the energy, and what cues will spark joy. From different ethnicities to all age groups, he has mastered the art of engagement.

He goes backstage between sets, running through possible tracklists, fine-tuning the vibe, and syncing up with Westafa. "You have to give people what they didn't know they needed," he says. "That's the job."

"Engagement is key," he stresses. "You have to make sure people understand you, that you're speaking clearly. That's a key component in this industry."

As someone who built his career from scratch, no handouts, no shortcuts, Cisco knows the grind. He knows the loneliness of taking a risk and the silence that sometimes comes before the applause. But he never let that stop him. "You have to want more for yourself," he says. "Even when nobody else sees the vision."

So what is BigBodyCisco's message to the world?

"Never settle for less," he says. "People get comfortable where they're at. But if you never try to reach the top of the mountain, you'll never know what's up there. Don't end up in the box, six feet deep, wishing you would've gone for more. If you settle for less, you'll get less. Always aim higher. Always want more for yourself."

BigBodyCisco isn't just reaching the top of the mountain, he's bringing his people with him.

His mic is his mission. His energy is his gift. His presence is his legacy.

And in every crowd he moves, every mic he holds, every room he enters, he reminds us that greatness is possible when you lead with passion, honor your roots, and bet on yourself. BigBodyCisco is more than a mic man. He is the moment. He is the movement.

And his story is far from over. Without BigBodyCisco, there is no show. And thanks to him, the stage is never empty.
